Pastoral Council Elections – 2018

PLEASE NOTE

The Pastoral Council exists to provide recommendations and feedback to the Pastor. Each member serves a term of three years with Council meetings being held on the second Monday of each month with the exception of the summer months, April and December. In an effort to get as wide a cross section of the parish as possible on the Council, we are asking parishioners to nominate anyone (including yourself) that you feel would be a positive addition to the Council. There are currently three positions available.

This year, three members of the Pastoral Council have completed their terms and will leave; those members are Lisa Coldiron, Lois Rubinsohn, and Dan DiLuzio.

Candidates and biographies may be found below.

Results of the election will be published in the June 9/10 Parish bulletin.

For your convenience, a ballot may be downloaded HERE

John Pilkington

My wife Annabelle and I moved to Bethany Beach about 3 years ago.  We have three children and four grandchildren. I was an executive for many years in a large financial service firm and now retired.
Previously, we lived in Northport Long Island and were very involved in our parish of St Anthony of Padua. I was on the Pastoral Council for 6 years and as Chairman the last two years. Our goal was to assist the pastor in various church functions making recommendations and providing feedback to him of any spiritual concerns , etc. or ideas which parishioners might have. My wife and I were the coordinators of the Pre Cana program for the parish for 15 years and I also served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, minister to our local nursing home, and the Catholic Ministries Appeal Chairman.  In 2004, we were honored to receive the Bishop’s Service Excellence Award Medals for the Diocese of Rockville Center on Long Island .
We have been very impressed with St Ann’ s and the faith filled clergy and parishioners we have met. I would love to assist on the Parish Council if chosen and believe my background and experience would be a valuable asset to it.

Vince Catania

I have been a member of Saint Ann’s the past sixteen years. I am married to Mary Catania; we have four children and eleven grandchildren.
In my professional life, I was a Biology teacher for 11 years, an assistant principal for 3 years and a principal for twenty-five years. I retired from Maryland as an educator and accepted a job as principal at Sussex Central Middle School for 5 years. Since retiring from the Indian River School District in 2008, I have worked as a mentor for the University of Delaware.
I am a member of the parish Saint Vincent de Paul Society, serving the food pantry by getting rolls every Wednesday evening for about two years. I have also been a Eucharistic Minister for two years. I am now serving as a minister to the sick for the last year.
I wish to be a member of the Parish Council at Saint Ann in order to serve the parish as an active participant. I have the time now and wish to commit to that service.
